Groupe Germain
Hotels and sustainability

From the environmentally friendly building practices we follow to the charitable donations we make, from the financial health of our organization to the training programs we have developed for our team, each decision we make is guided by the knowledge that we are contributing to the sustainable growth of our communities. We follow best practices in governance and are proud of our ranking as one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies for more than 10 years.

We support local businesses and designers

We encourage local sourcing of our products and services to give back to the communities where we do business. We employ 500 people across Canada and support hundreds of jobs indirectly thanks to our local procurement policies and hotels under construction.

Group Germain Hotels also supports the next generation of hoteliers and encourages local designers and artisans whenever possible. For example:

  • We support local hospitality schools and offer internships in every one of our hotels.
  • Le Germain hotel staff wears designer clothing created by Bustle Clothing and Marie Saint Pierre. Doormen wear Harricana hats made out of recycled fur.

We believe in being eco-responsible

Montréal-based LEMAYMICHAUD Architecture Design created all Alt+ Hotels, Alt Hotels and Le Germain Hotels. Our most recent hotels are designed and built with careful attention to environmental conservation, efficiency, and controls. For instance, our most recent projects feature geothermal heating and cooling as well as energyefficient lighting systems. Whenever possible, we use products that can be reused, recharged or recycled, and all our hotels offer a smokefree environment.
