Christiane and Jean-Yves Germain named among 5 Grands Québécois 2019 by the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Québec
Montreal, January 22, 2019 - We are pleased to announce that Christiane and Jean-Yves Germain will be inducted into the Académie des Grands Québécois on April 12, 2019 for their exceptional economic contribution to the Quebec City region. Three other personalities from the cultural, social and health sectors will also be inducted. Over the past 30 years, 111 Grands Québécois and Québécoise have been honoured by the Chambre de commerce et d'industrie de Québec (CCIQ).
"It is a great honour to receive this award, I am touched," said Christiane Germain, co-president of Group Germain Hotels, "like this award, our company originated in Quebec City 30 years ago, and although we now operate in seven Canadian provinces, Quebec City will always have a special place for us," she continued. "It is indeed a great honour to be included among these distinguished Quebecers," added Jean-Yves Germain, co-president of Group Germain Hotels, "recognition in the economic sector warms our hearts because we have succeeded in creating and expanding our business while remaining Quebec-owned and maintaining one of our head offices in Quebec City, which is a great source of pride for us," he concluded.

Trained at the Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec, Jean-Yves is co-founder and co-President of Group Germain Hotels. Gifted with a keen business sense, he is in charge of development, orchestrates financing, and supervises the construction of all the hotels. Jean-Yves began his career in the restaurant industry. It was where he first tried his hand at raising capital. Since then, he has mastered the structuring of investment funds and financial strategies for the company’s hotel developments. Group Germain Hotels, whose finances he runs, is ranked among the 50 Best Managed Companies in Canada thanks to its economic and financial health. Alongside his career as an hotelier, Jean-Yves is president of Casot ltée, a company based in Québec City that owns and operates a number of commercial and residential properties. He is also chair of the board of directors of the Orchestre symphonique de Québec and is dedicated to several charities in the community.
