Alt Hotel Montreal to open its doors at the end of March 2014

GROUPE GERMAIN HOSPITALITÉ TO OPEN THE FIRST HOTEL IN GRIFFINTOWN, A NEIGHBOURHOOD DESTINED TO BECOME A MAJOR TOURIST HUB

Groupe Germain Hospitalité is proud to announce the opening of ALT Hotel Montréal Griffintown, the fifth hotel of the brand to combine an excellent design, comfort and price ratio. Along with Hôtel Le Germain Montréal and ALT Hotel Brossard Quartier DIX30, this will be the third hotel owned and operated by the company to open in the greater Montréal area. It will also be the first hotel to open in one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods, which is currently experiencing major growth and is expected to become a major tourist hub.

"As we continue to expand across the country, this investment demonstrates our commitment to Québec and our commitment to continuing to strengthen our presence in the market where our company was founded. Moreover, this strategic decision demonstrates our support and encouragement of the dynamism we’re seeing in Montréal. We are also extremely proud to establish ourselves in Griffintown, an area of Montréal with strong potential, and one that we, along with other pioneers, are helping to revive," said Christiane Germain, co-president and co-founder of Groupe Germain Hospitalité.

To be built at a cost of $27 million, the hotel will create approximately sixty jobs. Integrated into a multiple-use building complex that is one of the flagship redevelopment projects in the area, ALT Hotel Montréal Griffintown reflects a harmonious blend of contemporary and heritage architecture. Designed by Montréal firm MMB Architects, the building is constructed from aluminum panels and bricks recycled from historic buildings in the surrounding neighbourhood. Located at the corner of Peel and Wellington streets, it sits at an orthogonal of streets that constitute a prime example of early North America urban planning.

This modern hotel, measuring 18-stories high and immersed in natural light, will contain 154 ultra-comfortable rooms that feature an original and intelligent design created by Lemay Michaud Architecture Design. There are eight meeting rooms and two break areas of approximately 4,400 square feet in total, all equipped with large-format televisions, projection screens and equipment at the cutting edge of technology. Thanks to large-scale windows, these meeting rooms also enjoy a substantial amount of natural light, offering guests a beautiful view of the city.

"Our approach is simple: we focus on our guests’ needs, and the essentials that will enhance the quality of their stay. Friendly staff, ultra-comfortable beds, and the indispensable services and amenities are a few examples of the simplified luxury that we offer to our guests. This is what we call being ALTernative," said Julie Brisebois, General Manager of the future ALT Hotel Montréal Griffintown.

The hotel also offers an outdoor terrace of approximately 800 square feet with stunning views of the city, and a fully-equipped gym that is accessible at all times. The hotel property is part of a multiple-use real estate complex that includes District Griffin condos, restaurants, shops and underground parking.

ALT Hotels distinguished themselves by their multitude of energy-efficient features: geothermal heating and cooling, the recovery of ventilation heat, energy efficient lighting, large-scale thermal low-emissivity windows, domestic geothermal heating of water; automatic ventilation control, heating and air conditioning along with a white roof to minimize the formation of heat islands.
