Christiane Germain is an art lover. She shares her favorite Quebecer artists, museums, exhibits and galleries.
I am an art lover: I like to go to the museum, in Quebec City or all over the world, discover new artists, collect artworks. As president of the board of the National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec, I try to stay up to date as much as possible about what is happening on the visual arts scene in Quebec City. I therefore would like to share my favorite spots in Quebec for you to enjoy when you will be in this superb city.
LA NUIT DES GALERIES
On September 21, tourists and Quebecers are expected in the streets of the Old Port and Petit Champlain for La nuit des galeries. During this event, we embark on an artistic journey, punctuated with gastronomic stops and music, which takes us to several galleries, museums, art shops and ... at the Hotel Le Germain Quebec, where several works are exhibited. It’s a do not miss!
MIRÓ IN MALLORCA AT THE MNBAQ
This temporary exhibition presented at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec is simply fantastic. You have to see that. Admire more than 200 paintings and sculptures from the period when the Spanish artist lived in Mallorca. Presented until September 8th. Be quick!
MUSÉE DE LA CIVILISATION
I am always impressed by the variety and originality of the exhibitions at the Musée de la civilization. Ending in September, there is the beautiful exhibition named Jean-Claude Poitras - Fashion and Inspiration, which retraces the various inspirations of this Quebec fashion designer.
BGL
I love this group of Quebec artists. The trio formed by Jasmin Bilodeau, Sébastien Giguère and Nicolas Laverdière create works of art and ephemeral installations so original, creative and out of the ordinary that they manage to surprise me every time! Their works can be purchased at Galerie 3.
GALERIE MICHEL GUIMONT
In this gallery, you might find art works from Jean-Paul Mousseau and Jean Paul Riopelle as well as some of Tom Hopkins, Tania Girard Savoie or Diane Landry, among others. I like going there to discover new artists.
