Summer Fun in Western Canada : Things to do in Calgary, Saskatoon and Winnipeg in 2021

It's no secret that Western Canada has the most beautiful weather during the summer. It’s the perfect set up to enjoy outdoor activities, may you want to stay in town or take a daytrip.

A Sunset 9-hole in Calgary

Four hours before the sun sets, head to Maple Ridge Golf Course, McCall Lake Golf Course or Shaganappi Point Golf Course to play a 9-hole course while enjoying last rays of sunshine. It will be much cooler than during the day and also less busy. And when you’re done, you’ll be hungry for supper!

Is the looser buying dinner? Might as well book a table at Annabelle's Kitchen for a gourmet Italian meal then! Or you could pick up your meal from the River Café and eat it picnic style by the river and then have a drink on the incredible terrace at Rooftop Bar @ Simmons.

Regain your strength by spending a most restful night at Le Germain Hotel Calgary or the Alt Hotel Calgary East Village.

Biking to Black Fox Distillery in Saskatoon

Plan a bike ride and a guided tour to Black Fox Distillery, not very far from downtown Saskatoon. Follow the South Saskatchewan River for 30 minutes to arrive at this superb establishment where you will be able to drink what the land has to offer. Visit the farm, pick your own bouquet of flowers, stock up on gin and whisky, then come back to town for a relaxing picnic. Our favorite spot to lunch is by the river at Victoria Park. While you're there, take a few minutes to enjoy the artwork "The Coming Spring", a symbol of reconciliation with the Canadian past and heritage.

Just steps away from the Alt Hotel Saskatoon is the brand new K.W. Nasser Plaza. Take your time to take in all that it has to offer, just like a local would do. Raise your head: the shining building you see is the tallest in town and home to local company Nutrien.

End the day at the Alt Hotel Saskatoon, where you can give one last look at the Saskatchewan River from the comfort of your bed before going to sleep.

Discover the Largest Collection of Inuit Art in the World at the New Qaumajuq Museum in Winnipeg

Virtually inaugurated during the pandemic, the new Qaumajuq Museum will quickly become a must-see in Winnipeg for locals and tourists alike. Pronounced "KOW-ma-yourk," the museum's name means "it's bright" in Inuktitut. It holds the largest collection of contemporary Inuit art in the world. Bathed in loads of natural light, this space, connected to the Winnipeg Art Gallery, will charm you at first glance.

After your visit to the museum, go out for lunch at Hargrave St. Market. The concept is super simple: you order your meal and then go eat it outside at True North Square. We highly recommend the Italian dishes at Gusto North.

Come end the day at the Alt Hotel Winnipeg, where you’ll be warmly welcomed.
