The Most Beautiful Christmas Markets in Quebec

The holiday season begins well before December in Quebec! Let yourself be transported by the magic of Christmas by visiting these wonderful traditional markets where you can enjoy delicious hot drinks and comforting dishes while shopping for gifts from Quebec artisans.

Montreal

There won’t be one, nor two, but three Christmas markets in Montreal this year! How festive is this?

Starting November 19, the Grand Marché de Noël de Montréal, located in the Quartier des spectacles, is making its glorious return. This place is simply magical! Follow light paths, admire beautifully decorated Christmas trees and buy all of your gifts from Quebec artisans. There is no better place to soak up the festive atmosphere of the holidays! You have until December 31th, 2022 to visit it.

Once you have seen this market, head to the Atwater public market to visit the Christmas Village, which takes place from November 24 to December 18. The place is bright with Christmas lights and super festive and always attracts a lot of locals.

Finally, the Jean-Talon Christmas market, which takes place at the Jean-Talon public market, is the ideal place to go get your Christmas tree (a real one!) as well as to taste all kinds of holiday sweets and treats.

Stay at the Le Germain Hotel Montreal or the Alt Hotel Montreal to find yourself in the heart of the festivities.

Montreal’s South Shore

The Saveurs des Fêtes Christmas market is a must-see on the South Shore of Montreal. This year, it will be hold on November 18, 19 and 20.

During the first weekend, the Salon des Métiers d'Art will offer you the opportunity to discover unique and quality products made by talented craftsmen, while the second weekend will immerse you in the universe of the Salon des tendances créatives, a unique event in the region. On the menu: digital art, robotics, 3D printing, smart clothing and cosplay, according to Tourism Montérégie.

A visit would not be complete without having stopping by the outdoor market to stock up on gourmet Quebec products.

After its massive success last year, Escad Hotel in Brossard will once again hold its Christmas market! From December 1 to January 4, the hotel lobby will be filled with local products from more than 25 Quebec and Canadian artisans. The guests as well as the locals will surely find something to gift their loved ones.

To have all the time you need to enjoy all the boutiques at Quartier DIX30, plan a Christmas shopping weekend with an overnight stay at the Escad Hotel or the Alt Hotel DIX30.

Quebec City

From November 24 to December 23, Quebec City is putting on its finest Christmas decorations for the famous German Christmas Market. Similar to the European Christmas markets, this one is simply fantastic to get in the holiday mood. You can eat giant Bavarian-style hot dogs, chocolate churros and drink a lot of mulled wine. Small local artisans offer handmade products that will make great gifts, such as hand-knitted socks, hand poured candles, soaps and all kinds of crafts.

Dress warmly and plan to spend a good part of your day there: there is a lot to see… and a lot to eat!

Speaking of gastronomy, the Grand Marché de Québec is also getting festive! From November 14 and until December 31, local producers and artisans set themselves up the market to offer fresh produce and original gifts for the holiday season. You will agree that being able to do all your shopping under one roof is convenient!

Plan a stay at Le Germain Hotel Quebec or at the Alt Hotel Quebec to have enough time in the capital to visit both markets.

Charlevoix

The Baie-Saint-Paul Christmas Market takes place in the heart of the city from December 2 to December 11. The artisans of the region settle in pretty little wooden huts directly on the church square to offer their carefully handmade products.

Book a stay at the Hotel & Spa Le Germain Charlevoix to soak up the magic of the holiday season in the region. Once the first snow has fallen, Baie-Saint-Paul becomes even more magical!
