Good news from Ottawa: the Jackson Café is reopening, and a renowned chef is joining the Norca Restaurant team!
Germain Hotels is proud to announce the reopening of Jackson Café, located within the Ottawa Art Gallery. Whether it is for breakfast, lunch, or just a break, Jackson Café showcases selected coffees from Saint-Henri Micro-Torréfacteurs and pastries from Maison Oddo. A new way to savour art. As good news often comes in pairs, we are thrilled to welcome Chef Che Chartrand as the Executive Chef for Norca Restaurant & Bar, as well as Jackson Café. With his extensive experience in renowned establishments and serving the Prime Minister of Canada, Chef Che will bring one of the most exceptional culinary experiences to Ottawa’s Norca Restaurant guests.
Reopening of Jackson Café
Germain Hotels is delighted to strengthen its partnership with the Ottawa Art Gallery by taking over the management of Jackson Café, which had been closed for over three years. “This is an extraordinary opportunity to offer our guests another way to experience Germain Hotels’ hospitality,” said Jacques-Alexandre Paquet, General Manager of Le Germain Hotel Ottawa. “There is a certain intimacy that develops between guests and us in a café, not to mention the inspiring setting of the Ottawa Art Gallery!” From Tuesday to Sunday, Jackson Café offers remarkable products from two exceptional establishments. The coffee comes from Saint-Henri Micro-Torréfacteurs, as for pastries and baked goods, they are crafted by Maison Oddo in Gatineau. Furthermore, Jackson Café also offers a variety of sandwiches and salads that are skillfully prepared in the kitchens of Norca Restaurant.
“As we built the Ottawa Art Gallery, we got to know the Germain family, who own and operate the hotel next to us and over the past five years, we have been impressed by their commitment to quality and exceptional hospitality. They also have a keen interest in nurturing Canadian arts and culture, which makes them the perfect partner for our Café which is named after the famed Group of Seven artist A.Y. Jackson, who lived and worked in Ottawa and whose paintings and sketches you can find in our Firestone Gallery,” Notes Alexandra Badzak, Director and CEO, Ottawa Art Gallery.
Visitors to Jackson Café can now enjoy two large-scale murals showcasing the digital art of Eric Chan (alias eepmon)! The works of Ottawa artist Eric Chan have been exhibited worldwide. In 2021, eepmon made a splash in Times Square, New York, launching his non-fungible token (NFT) CityLights; he is also the winner of the 2023 Library and Archives Canada Award.
Welcoming Chef Che Chartrand as Executive Chef for Norca Restaurant & Bar and Jackson Café.
Le Germain Hotel Ottawa is delighted to welcome Chef Che Chartrand to its kitchens. Well known in the region, he began his career at the Les Fougères, Beckta and Gazellig restaurants. Subsequently, he served as the Executive Chef at the Wakefield Mill and Spa for a few years. More recently, he held the position of Private Executive Chef to the Prime Minister of Canada for four years. Finally, Chef Che was in charge of all catering for the official broadcasters and media groups during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. “We are confident that with his impressive background, Chef Che will enable us to offer our guests one of the most exceptional culinary experiences in Ottawa,” said Jacques-Alexandre Paquet, general manager of the Le Germain Hotel Ottawa.
