DAY ONE
MORNING
Fuel up with Rocket Bakery coffee and va-va-vanilla cake and drive out to the edge of the continent to explore coastal trails at cliffside Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site, dramatically perched on North America’s most easterly point. Keep an eye out too for seabirds, whales, and icebergs.
Late morning. Back in town, beeline it up (by car or foot) to Signal Hill National Historic Site to soak in fascinating history and views over the city’s historic, hilly streets and swirling North Atlantic. Do bring hiking shoes. Several trails run through this spectacular landscape. In season, grab a picnic from the onsite Newfoundland Chocolate Company Café.
LATE AFTERNOON
Snap postcard-perfect shots on a walking photography tour with Far East Photography, then hit up The Adelaide Oyster House to feast on music, drinks and fish tacos. Evening. As the sun sets, head for nearby Middle Cove Beach, popular for bonfires, marshmallow roasts, and, if in luck, some good tunes.
DAY TWO
Morning. After breakfast, take the unique chance to bird watch in an urban centre with Bird The Rock, specializing in custom bird and nature tours.
NOON
Dig into the famed fish & chips at equally legendary pub, Duke of Duckworth, before a peaceful meander past the duck pond and Peter Pan statue in Bowring Park.
AFTERNOON
Spend the rest of the day getting an exhilarating workout hiking sections of the East Coast Trail, 26 wilderness paths and 300 km of coastline. Pick up the trail at Fort Amherst at the head of the harbour or Quidi Vidi Village.
EVENING
Enjoy an unforgettable culinary experience at Terre Restaurant, where you can admire the harbour while savouring your dinner. Awarded the Best Hotel Restaurant in Canada by Air Canada's enRoute magazine in 2021, Terre features local ingredients from the Atlantic provinces.
Enjoy your stay!
